A housewife, Amudat Shosanya, was on Wednesday charged before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stabbing her husband’s lover with a broken bottle. Shosanya, 39, who resides at Jebba Street in Ebute Meta, Lagos State, is facing a charge of assault. The prosecutor, Sgt. Mariam Dauda told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 13 at about 11.27 a.m., at Jebba Street in Ebute Meta. 16-Year-Old Dies After Taking Local Adulterated Gin, Seller Arrested

The police in Lagos State have arrested a woman who sold suspected adulterated liquor in the Oko Afo, Badagry area of the state, in connection with the death of a 16-year-old boy, identified only as Ngozi. Ngozi, who lived with his parents on Temidola Street, Oko Afo, reportedly died about an hour after drinking local gin. Punch Metro learnt that one Olufunke had sent her son, Olawumi and Ngozi to buy the gin from the woman, whose name had yet to be ascertained. Police Parade Suspected Snatchers Of Rivers Poll Materials

The police on Wednesday in Abuja paraded five suspects for allegedly hijacking electoral materials during the legislative rerun election in Rivers State last Saturday. The Force spokesman, Donald Awunah, stated that the police recovered from them, a green Independent National Electoral Commission branded bag, eight booklets of ballot papers meant for Emohua Local Government Area, and one INEC accreditation incident reports booklet. The Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Leo Irabor, disclosed this at a press briefing yesterday at the 7 Division headquarters, in Maiduguri, Borno State. He said, “The troops have continued to make remarkable progress in the fight against terrorism in the Sambisa Forest. Between December 7 and 14, 2016, 180 adult females, 227 male children and 129 female children, were rescued during the operations. Wickedness of Governor Rochas Okorocha: In the morning I was chatting with my Dad over the phone when he excitedly told me that he was hurrying up to Owerri, that Imo state government invited them to come for the payment of their pension arrears. He hurriedly left for Owerri. I called him via video call this afternoon to ask him how his journey faired, with a gloomy face he sourly said "I wonder how that man (Rochas Okorocha) closes his eyes and sleeps comfortably in his wickedness". He averred that Rochas is owing pensioners more than 20months of their pension arrears.

An audio tape purported to be Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, threatening to kill an INEC official in the just concluded rerun election for the state National Assembly, has surfaced online. In the audio tape which was shared by Sahara Reporters, the man who SR claims is Governor Wike, in a telephone conversation, is heard arranging payments to INEC officials in exchange for their help to allegedly rig the election for PDP candidates in Etche, Khana, Ikwerre and other key local government areas in the state.

90% of female prisoners in the country were either pregnant or nursing mothers, said the National Council of Women's Society (NCWS). The society’s president, Mrs. Gloria Shoda, disclosed this on Tuesday, December 13th, during the inauguration of new executives in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Two Division, Brigadier General Chukwunedum Abraham, has dispelled rumors that the murdered commandant of the Command Secondary school in Apata, Ibadan, was neither shot or stabbed to death. Col. Anthony Okeyim pictured above, was on Monday December 12th, murdered at his apartment located within the school premises by suspected assassins.
