Photos: Nigerian woman who gave birth to quadruplets in London hospital unable to pay £500,000 bill

A Nigerian woman is unable to pay over £500,000 NHS bill after giving birth to quadruplets in a west London hospital. The 43-year-old new mother, known as Priscilla, told staff she was unable to pay her bill after having the babies at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital in White City.

She claimed she planned to give birth in Chicago after being warned Nigerian hospitals did not have the “facilities to cater for the children”.

However, the heavily pregnant woman was turned away by US border officials and went into labour three months early during her return to Nigeria in November. One child died shortly after birth and another died on Saturday, January 28th.

Priscilla, who underwent IVF treatment to help her conceive, is now living in a London hostel run by a charity while her two surviving babies, Elijah and Esther, remain in hospital.

Her husband is unable to travel to the UK due to a further lack of funds. The family’s shocking story will feature on BBC 2 documentary Hospitals on Wednesday, February 1st.

During the episode, which highlights the pressures of so-called health tourism on the capital’s NHS trusts, staff reveal the cost of the complex birth procedure for the triplets and care of the babies has exceeded £500,000.

When first warned of the high treatment costs by overseas visitor manager Terry Facey, she says:
"I didn’t plan to come here. It’s only money. Money can’t buy life. The last bill I had was £331,000 but – even if I worked every day – I would never earn that much money. My kids are priceless."
Mr Facey, who has worked at the trust for 12 years trying to collect bills for overseas patients, says:
"Those invoices are going to be huge ... 20 grand a week for each baby (in intensive care). We will gently push forward and do what we have to do, we’re governed by the rules and regulations. They seem a bit fruitless at times.

'Donald Trump's administration, alongside China, Russia, terrorism and radical Islam is a threat to us' - European Union

The president of the European Union, Donald Tusk, has classified Donald Trump's new administration as a threat to the European Union alongside Vladmir Putin's Russia, China, Terrorism and radical Islam.

In a letter sent to European leaders on Tuesday, Tusk wrote that factors such as Trump's ban on immigration, increased friendliness with Vladmir Putin, publicly blasting NATO and “worrying declarations by the new American administration all make our future highly unpredictable.”

U.S President Trump has at one point called NATO "obsolete," dismissed the 28-member EU as a "vehicle for Germany" and publicly said he's had "a very bad experience" with the EU as a businessman.

Tusk wondered whether the United States would maintain its commitment to European security under Mr. Trump’s leadership.

“For the first time in our history, in an increasingly multipolar external world, so many are becoming openly anti-European, or Eurosceptic at best,” Mr. Tusk wrote. The letter was released ahead of an E.U summit meeting in Malta on Friday; and Tusk is responsible for setting the agenda for the meetings.

“Particularly the change in Washington puts the European Union in a difficult situation; with the new administration seeming to put into question the last 70 years of American foreign policy,” he wrote.

“An increasingly, let us call it, assertive China, especially on the seas,” he wrote, “Russia’s aggressive policy toward Ukraine and its neighbors, wars, terror and anarchy in the Middle East and in Africa, with radical Islam playing a major role, as well as worrying declarations by the new American administration all make our future highly unpredictable.”

"We cannot surrender to those who want to weaken or invalidate the Transatlantic bond, without which global order and peace cannot survive. We should remind our American friends of their own motto: United we stand, divided we fall."

Guntram B. Wolff, director of Bruegel, a research organization in Brussels said the E.U shouldn't enter into a war of words with the Trump administration.

“We need to uphold our values here, but does it mean that we need now a declaration where we put the United States on the same level as ISIS?”
“No, I don’t think so. I don’t think it that would be helpful in any way.

Policeman Breaks Woman’s Jaw For Not Telling Him Girlfriend’s Whereabouts

A 30-year-old woman, Oluchukwu Ezemaduka, is currently battling with a damaged jaw at a private hospital, West Care Specialist Hospital in Akowonjo, Lagos, after she was allegedly battered by a riot policeman, Idiahgbe Iyobosa.

Iyobosa, who is attached to a bank in the FESTAC Town, was said to have repeatedly hit the woman in the jaw with his service boots until blood gushed out.

Oluchukwu is the friend and roommate of Iyobosa’s girlfriend, Maryjane Anyagwa. The friends live
on Awoyemi Street, off Coker Road, Ejigbo.

Punch Metro learnt that Iyobosa had visited his girlfriend in Ejigbo on Saturday, January 21, at about 9pm, with a view to passing the night at her place, but met only Oluchukwu at home.

He was said to have got enraged and resorted to the assault as the victim told him that she didn’t know Anyagwa’s whereabouts.

Oluchukwu, who managed to speak to a Punch correspondent from  her sick bed, said the policeman ransacked the apartment, looking for his girlfriend.

“I was not in the room when he came. As I was about to enter the room, I felt that somebody was there; I got a torch from a neighbour and shone it in the room. That was when I knew it was him. He had scattered everywhere.

“He asked me where his girlfriend was, I didn’t answer him. He asked me the second time and I told him that
I didn’t know her whereabouts. He kicked me several times with his boots, breaking my jaw. He brought out
a dagger and
chased me outside. It was people, who saved me.

“The pain is too much for me. The doctor said I would undergo surgeries this week.”

Her friend, Anyagwa, stated that her relationship with Iyobosa was marred with threats and harassment, saying she was no longer interested in the relationship.

She said, “I was not around that day. When I came back the next morning, my neighbours told me that my boyfriend came to beat up my friend because he was looking for me. He thought she deliberately refused
to disclose where I was.

“He usually assault me too. Most times, he would not notify me that he would pass the night in my place. He would threaten to deal with me if I report him to the authorities or quit the relationship. I was afraid.

“We started dating each other about a year ago. I later knew that he is married with two kids. The wife had warned me to stay away from her husband.”

An eyewitness and neighbour, Henry Okafor, said Iyobosa also attacked him that day when he cautioned him.

“He just came from nowhere and started beating the lady. He also attacked me. I didn’t fight him because he was in uniform,” he added.

Oluchukwu’s father, Mike Ezemaduka, who is based in Abuja, said he was shocked on seeing the condition of his daughter at the hospital

He said, “It was a serious injury and she will undergo two surgeries, according to her doctor. The doctor said she needed to recuperate a little bit before he could carry out the surgeries. The lower jaw was broken. We were told that she would no longer be able to chew if she didn’t undergo the surgeries, which will cost about
N700,000. The policeman’s relatives have promised to pay the bill.

“My daughter is not his girlfriend; she has nothing to do with him at all. Why should he beat someone, whose room he barged into?”

It was gathered that the case was reported at the Ejigbo Police Station and Iyobosa was arrested.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Olarinde Famous-Cole, in a text message, said, “The incident was reported at the division for discreet investigation

The supposed reason Scott Disick left Costa Rica to go and 'cheat' on Kourtney Kardashian

After photos of Kourtney Kardashian's baby daddy, Scott Disick, frolicking and kissing 2 different girls few days after spending time with Kourtney and their 3 children, hit the Internet, people took to his page to slam him for constantly hurting her. TMZ is now claiming that Scott had a serious argument with Kris Jenner and Kim K before he left their family vacation in Costa Rica.
"Turns out, there's a good reason Scott Disick's been partying in Miami the past couple days ... he pissed off the Kardashians. Sources close to Scott tell us ...
he secretly flew a girl to Costa Rica -- where the Kardashians were filming their show -- and put her up at a hotel where the crew was staying. It's pretty clear ... the Kardashians didn't want an interloper while they filmed, so Scott tried to keep it on the QT.
"We're told someone from the crew ratted Scott out, telling Kris and Kim about Scott's muse. Our sources say Kim and Kris had a ferocious argument with Scott. It had nothing to do with Kourtney ... that relationship has been over for a long time. They felt it was disruptive and disrespectful.
"Scott didn't see it their way and bolted to Miami. It's unclear what happened to the girl, but days later he was with another chick ... and the next day still another.
Scott, we're told, is more than happy hanging in Miami ... way happier than shooting the show.
