Suspected Boko Haram members abduct 7 women in Borno state

Suspected Boko Haram members abducted seven women and killed three other persons in an attack on Ndagu Village of Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on Monday Jan 23rd.

The sect members stormed the village at about 5am and began shooting sporadically. They burnt homes and took away some cars.

15 dead, over 30 hurt in Somalia hotel terrorist attack this morning

5 gunmen stormed into a hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia this morning, killing several people. The coordinated gun-and-bomb attack took place at Dayah Hotel, which is near Somalia's parliament in central Mogadishu. The hotel is said to be used by government officials.

At least 15 people were killed and more than 30 people injured as the terrorists rammed an explosives -packed car into the gate of the hotel. A second massive car bomb blast went off after ambulances and journalists arrived at the scene, wounding reporters.

Former University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital Director loses his house to EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 secured the forfeiture of a property located at Plot 114, Gamji Road, New GRA, off Bama Road, Maiduguri, belonging to Mahmud Deji Sambo (aka- Ardo Hamjam) a former Assistant Director (Finance and Account) in the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital who is being prosecuted on a 3-count charge of stealing by the Commission. The property was attached pursuant to an order by Justice M.T Salihu of the Federal High Court Maiduguri. The property is alleged o have been acquired with proceeds of crime.

Kidnapped students, staff of Turkish School regain freedom after 11 days in captivity

The kidnapped staff and students of the Nigerian Turkish International School, Ogun State, have regained their freedom, Channels Telvision reports. They were released on Tuesday evening, January 24th. One of the parents told Channels Television that ransom worth millions was paid through a negotiator and the gunmen gave the assurance that the victims would be released. FG orders investigation into why Big Brother Nigeria is being shot in South Africa

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to investigate why the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria Reality Show is being shot in South Africa.

In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, Lai Mohammed said the NBC should determine whether Multi-Choice, by shooting the show in South Africa, has breached the Nigerian Broadcasting Code in any way, as well as the issue of possible deceit, since the viewing public was never told that the event would be staged outside Nigeria.

A 23-year-old Indian woman has delivered a baby with four legs and two male sex organs, reports Times of India. The baby was born at Dhadeasugure Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Raichur on Saturday, January 21. The new born has been taken to Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Ballari and placed under neonatal care.
Initially, the mother of the baby, Lalitamma, was reluctant to take the infant to VIMS for higher
treatment.

"It is God's gift to us," she told the doctors. "My first son, born three years ago, is healthy. We are poor and cannot afford expensive treatment," said Lalitamma, adding that she was willing to raise her newborn child just the way he was.
Dr Virupaksha said:
"I referred the family to VIMS. I spoke to the surgeons there on Sunday, and they told me that the baby was being kept under observation. I hope the infant becomes normal." Dr Divakar Gaddi, who is handling the baby's case at VIMS, said a team of surgeons ae looking into the baby's condition.
"It is a very challenging case for us." he added.
