Gambian President rejects election result days after conceding defeat

Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh, who lost to his opponent, Adams Barrow, in the presidential election held earlier this month has now refused to accept the result, claiming there were 'abnormalities' in the votes. Jammeh, who has been the leader of The Gambia for 22 years after a successful coup in 1994, surprised everyone last week when he called the President-elect to wish him well. "You are the elected president of The Gambia, and I wish you all the best. I have no ill will.” He said at the time. However, just hours ago, Jammeh backtracked and is asking for a fresh election.

Anyway, I desperately wanted to win the pageant because I believed I could use the platform to achieve my other dreams. Burglars attack Real Madrid Footballer Raphael Varane's home, make away with £60k worth of valuables

Spanish newspaper El Mundo has revealed that Real Madrid and France defender Raphael Varane lost about £60,000 worth of valuables to burglars who attacked his Madrid home on Wednesday night while he was away playing football for his club side against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA champions league. The robbers made away with 12 watches, cash, jewelry and clothes, and the footballer upon returning to the house, called police and the club's security team, informing them that he didn't put on his security alarm before leaving his house. Henry Rodriguez, a 37yr old dad of one from Venezuela has spent £30K in a bid to look like Marvel villain, Red Skull who is popularly known as Captain America's nemesis. Images show his transformation as he first gets his eyes tattooed black, has implants inserted into his head and then undergoes a painful operation to have part of his nose removed. Despite his scary appearance, Henry who now calls himself Red Skull insists he is still a loving husband and dad to three-year-old son, Aaron and family photos show that this is very much the case.

Supreme Court Strips State Governors Of Power To Sack Local Government Officials

The Supreme Court on Friday described as “executive recklessness” the now rampant acts of governors dissolving democratically-elected local government councils in their states and replacing them with caretaker committees. The apex court also nullified the provisions of the laws enacted by the states’ Houses of Assembly empowering governors to carry out such dissolution and replace them with caretaker committees. A five-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, made the pronouncements, among others, in a unanimous judgment it delivered on Friday.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 53 persons were burnt to death in a multiple motor accident that occurred on Thursday evening at Abudu town along Benin-Agbor-Onitsha express road. The accident involved seven vehicles which includes; two hummer buses, Toyota Sienna, One Dyna truck, a tanker carrying petrol a Ford bus and one Toyota corolla car and a motor cycle. An eye witness said they helplessly watched the victims burn to death as they couldn't do any thing to save them due to the lack of fire service station in the local government.

The boss of the Chapecoense airline crash has been locked up in jail and could face 71 charges of manslaughter. Gustavo Vargas, who owns La Mia airlines, will be held in custody as authorities in Bolivia consider whether to prosecute him. One of LaMia's jets crashed into a Columbian mountainside after running out of fuel just five miles before its destination. Seventy-one people on board, including the Brazilian football team players, staff, and a group of journalists, were killed. Only six people survived.
